Southwest Airlines Unveils New 737 Seat Map with Enhanced Inflight Experience

Southwest Airlines has announced the launch of its revamped cabin interior on select aircraft, starting in early 2025. The airline's fleet will feature either the brand-new Bombardier CRJ-900 Atmosphere Cabin (CR9) or a retrofit interior within the next few years.

The new seat map is designed to provide an enhanced inflight experience for passengers. Seat 10 A is a standard Delta Comfort+ seat with extra legroom, thanks to the absence of a bulkhead wall and a curtain divider. However, this seat has limited floor storage during takeoff and landing, as well as proximity to the galley that may be bothersome.

On the other hand, seats 1 D, 1 C, 1 B, and 1 A have restricted legroom due to the bulkhead wall. Floor storage is also not available for these seats during takeoff and landing, and passengers may find the proximity of the galley annoying.

The airline's new cabin interior features a deep blue hue with lighter blue accents, incorporating nods to its heart logo throughout, including woven into the carpet and on headrests. The Recaro-designed seats offer adjustable headrests and personal device holders, making for a more comfortable journey.

Southwest Airlines' Chief Customer Officer and Senior Vice President Tony Roach emphasized that the redesigned cabin interior 'significantly enhances our inflight customer experience' and complements the airline's exceptional service.

The airline worked closely with Tangerine, a London-based design firm, to create the new cabins. The design process involved extensive research involving customers and employees, focusing on color, comfort, and overall onboard experience.
